Reasons to Think About Romantic Destinations
If you are the type of traveler who loves culture, history, and art, your first thought when considering a honeymoon destination is likely a country in Western Europe. You imagine visiting the Colosseum in Rome, wandering around the French Riviera, visiting castles in Scotland, or enjoying a coffee in a small coastal town like Biarritz. While these places are lovely and romantic, they are not necessarily the best choice for a honeymoon. There are several good reasons people opt for all inclusive honeymoon destinations.
Most married couples cannot reiterate enough just how exhausted they were after their wedding. It is amazing how much it takes out of you, even though it is a wonderful and exciting time. You will likely not want to travel great distances to reach the place where you can finally relax (this is especially true if you are leaving the day after your wedding). Travel can be stressful, especially when you are dealing with flights, rental cars, and public transportation. And if you decide to go to a city or destination where you are practically obligated to see everything, you are going to be even more exhausted from site seeing. Remember that your honeymoon is not the only trip you will take together as a couple, and there will be other opportunities to visit Paris or Venice—perhaps when you have not recently been through the biggest day of your life.
Another major consideration is cost. At the end of their wedding, most people are on a tight budget. Things almost always cost more than you expect them to, and you will learn this as you evaluate different wedding vendors. Everything adds up when you are traveling: a latté here, a cocktail there, a taxi ride here, a hotel bill there—and suddenly you have spent twice as much as you intended. And as soon as you realize how much you are spending, everything starts to become stressful. Suddenly you are not enjoying that bottle of wine as much as you should be.
Now is the time to take advantage of honeymoon vacation packages. With all inclusive honeymoon destinations, you can set your honeymoon budget from the start and not be tempted to stray from it. And if you are not the type to lie on a beach, there are plenty of options in non-tropical places such as Italy. With an all-inclusive package, you don’t have to worry every time you want to buy a coffee or think about meals that are adding up. Many packages also include airfare, transportation from the airport to the resort, and other amenities such as spa packages.
If you are the type of person who likes to explore the surrounding territory and doesn’t want to feel "stuck," some resorts offer vouchers for local restaurants. Remember that you can still go out and spend money elsewhere, knowing that the bulk of your spending has already been taken care of with your package.
And don’t forget to tell the staff that you are on your honeymoon. They will love it!
